Kinect 2.0 Detailed

Much of the excitement surrounding the new Xbox can be directly attributed to the next-gen Kinect sensor. Building off what the original Kinect started this takes NUI (natural user interaction) to the next level. From natural speech recognition to more accurate facial recognition and more detailed body motion capture. Kinect has been improved so much it's almost unfair to compare with the original incarnation. In this article let's go over what we know.

The New Xbox Revealed

The Gunstringer Launching at Reduced Price, Packaged with Fruit Ninja Kinect and Free DLC

We recently brought you news that Twisted Pixels upcoming Kinect puppet shooter, The Gunstringer, will be hitting retail stores rather than Xbox Live Arcade as previously planned. Many worried online that the increase in price might not necessarily result in an increase in gameplay. Well, we can't say for sure how much value you'll get out of The Gunstringer alone until we've played it in full ourselves, but they're certainly working hard to make the game more desirable at a retail price point.

The game will launch on September 13th in the US, Australia and Asia and the 16th in Europe at a discounted price of £29.99 ($40). Not only that, but it will come with a code to download Fruit Ninja Kinect for free, an otherwise 800 point ($10) Live Arcade purchase.

They're also throwing in some free DLC right off the bat making the games' price hike even easier to swallow. "The Wavy Tube Man Chronicles" sees you play the son of The Wavy Tube Man (see left), attempting to save your fathers life via a stolen time machine. Just your average day in the Wild West.


Still not satisfied? Well pre-order now and you'll also get yourself an Avatar prop. Can't say fairer than that, really.

The Gunstringer Now a Retail Title; Coming This Fall

Twisted Pixel's Kinect Marionette Shooter, The Gunstringer, is hitting store shelves this fall. Originally announced as a summer Live Arcade title, the game will now be a retail title with added development time used to flesh out to content and polish the game
Featuring both Donkey Kong-esque side scrolling platform gameplay, as well as 3D on-rails shooting segments, the game looks to capture the imagination of Kinect users with Twisted Pixel's trademark style and humor. Players will fight a Gatorjack, for example. The resulting offspring of a puppet alligator and a puppet lumberjack.

Hopefully with the extra time, Twisted Pixel can really produce something special.

Big Gunstringer News Coming at E3!

Twisted Pixel have announced on their developer blog that we can expect some big news at E3 for their upcoming Kinect shooter, The Gunstringer.

How big? Knockout Punch big. And, as their site clearly clarifies, Science has proven “KNOCKOUT PUNCH big” to be bigger than your normal “big” by a wide margin.

We can expect a new and improved Gunstringer demo, as well as other big announcements next week from Twisted Pixel. We'll let let you know as soon as all is revealed!

First 15 mins of gameplay for Gunstringer

Joystiq have just posted gameplay footage for Twisted Pixel's first Kinect game. You essentially use your left hand to control the Gunstringer like a marionette and use your right hand to highlight targets and shoot. The brief gameplay clip shows off a variety of gameplay scenarios from hiding behind cover to boss fights. Be sure to check out the footage here and let us know what you think.
