NaturalMotion Tech 'Simplifies Kinect development', 'Helps eliminate lag'

NaturalMotion, the company behind the Euphoria animation technology found in games such as Grand Theft Auto IV and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, has revealed a new Kinect module for its leading animation middleware, Morpheme. Speaking to Develop, NaturalMotion claim that the technology can bring an end to in-game lag with Kinect.

"Lag times in Kinect are just not a problem with the right filtering algorithms and judicious use of motion input in different situations," says Torsten Reil, CEO of NaturalMotion.

The Kinect module allows developers to re-target the Kinect motion data onto a character without the need to create a dedicated engine, saving both time and money.

The technology has already been deployed in multiple studios, so expect to see some implemented results in the coming months.
